It’s a sunny April day in the Cotswolds. A white Ford Transit bus is taking a class of kids aged seven and eight from Littleford Primary on a school day trip. Ten members of Class 3B are on this particular trip with four members of staff accompanying them – Erica Lindsay (Year 2 teacher), Dominic Moore (Year 2 teaching assistant), Cally Norman (Year 3 teacher) and Oscar Jones (Year 1 teacher). But that evening, the bus doesn’t return. Where are they?
We get to know the parents of the missing children – Ben Townsend and his wife Monique, TV chef Eldon Beckford and his wife Amy, Eugene Pearson and his wife Polly, single mum Rosie Duggan, ex-footballer Spike Greer and his wife Tasha, same-sex parents Brett and Jon MacDonald-Cook, Vanessa and Alex Carr, Clare Tustain and her husband Nick and TV chat show host Reynold Lyon and his model wife Petra.
There’s also the school headteacher Olivia Chamberlain and the Cotswolds Police with DSU Sadie Stewart and DCI Daniel Sharma, so there are a lot of characters but it was easy to get to know them and didn’t become confusing.
Of course, all the parents seem to have a deep, dark, hidden secret. Could that have anything to do with the vanishing of Class 3B?
It’s a great idea for a story and I was into the action straight away, wanting to know what happened to the class and how something could happen to a bus, four teachers and ten children. It’s definitely intriguing and of course, the stakes are high with young kids involved.
It’s a pacy read and definitely a page-turner. The chapters are a good size too, so it’s tempting to just read another one! I really enjoyed the book and would like to read more of the author’s books.

The Vanishing of Class 3B
One spring morning, a bus full of children and their teachers from a Cotswolds primary school head off on a much-anticipated day trip.
But as night falls and the well-heeled parents – one or two of them famous, as well as wealthy – wait at the school to collect their weary offspring, it soon becomes clear that something has gone very wrong.
The children and their teachers simply do not come back.
What’s happened doesn’t seem possible.
How can an entire class of children simply vanish?
