MY REVIEW

The novel is written in first person, showing us Tess Parker’s viewpoint. Early on in the book, Tess is in a car accident with her sister-in-law Torrie Adams. Tess is pretty much okay, but Torrie ends up with a serious head injury. This leaves Tess and her husband Josh to look after Torrie’s four-month-old baby son, Levi.

Then a woman turns up, introducing herself to Tess as Torrie’s older sister Jessie. But Torrie has never mentioned having sisters…

It’s a bit of a strange one this. Nearly all the characters are unlikeable and everyone is flawed, plus they all seem to be harbouring secrets and lies. It’s a bit hard knowing who to root for really, although there’s a baby, so we all want the baby to be okay.

It’s quite a short book with a lot happening and the pacing sometimes seems a little frenetic. It does keep you turning the pages though to find out what happens and there are plenty of twists and turns, so the story certainly isn’t predictable. There’s a good showdown when you need it and it holds your interest.
